Black British Business Awards announce 2021 finalists

Finalists have been disclosed for this year’s Black British Small business Awards, an annual function that celebrates the achievements of some of the UK’s leading company bosses and business owners.

Now in its eighth calendar year, the awards highlight “exceptional company talent” throughout 6 industries: arts and media customer and luxury commence-ups financial products and services skilled products and services and STEM (science, tech, engineering and maths).

Among the 39 businesspeople shortlisted are Taponeswa Mavunga, director of Africa at Sony Audio United kingdom, Akima Paul-Lambert, litigation spouse at Hogan Lovells, and Edgar Chibaka and Jamal Tahlil, co-founders of Leeds-dependent safety agency Very first Reaction Team.

Sophie Chandauka, co-founder and chair of the awards, stated: “Our finalists have sent incredible professional price throughout sectors in risky marketplaces, where business owners in distinct have been decimated.

“They have been strategic advisors to their companies and boards as worldwide businesses are challenged by traders to handle systemic racism.

“Despite the pandemic and social unrest, they are fiercely competitive, artistic and commercially savvy. They are worldwide in their outlook and ambition, and depict the really best of currently being British in a post-pandemic, post-Brexit Europe.”

Segun Osuntokun of regulation agency Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner was named black British businessperson of 2020 at last year’s ceremony.
