Sugarcane acreage in Maharashtra to rise 30% to 10.66 lakh ha

 

The sugarcane planted area in Maharashtra is expected to improve by 29 per cent to ten.sixty six lakh ha for the sugar calendar year 2020-21. Past calendar year, the area was eight.22 lakh ha, according to the estimates geared up by the State Sugar Commissioner place of work.

Jaggery units

Sugarcane also has very good demand from cattle feed suppliers and from jaggery creating units. Jaggery is continue to used for creating classic sweets and it is also getting promoted as a health and fitness foodstuff and an option to white sugar.

The notice included that the Kolhapur division will dominate the scene with 2.69 lakh ha of area underneath the money crop. Past calendar year, the acreage was 2.30 lakh ha. Customarily, the division, which is composed of Kolhapur and Sangli district, has been the major sugarcane belt of the State.
