Food items Company of India and other procurement organizations have procured 222.33 lakh tonnes (lt) of wheat until Sunday during the present rabi internet marketing year towards 77.57 lt in the corresponding time period previous 12 months, an official assertion stated on Monday.

The 1st-ever procurement year which saw immediate financial institution transfer of procurement payment in Punjab resulted in farmers acquiring ₹8,180 crore in their financial institution accounts. In the state, as a full, 21.74 lakh farmers acquired a total of ₹43,912 crore to wheat procurement payment, the assertion stated.
